Happy Endings for Riddler

Riddler is doing so much better since we got him. At first he ate socks, large patches of the carpet, peed on doors and all over, so we crated him anytime we left the house, and he broke a canine trying to eat his way out of that too. :P After the $500 surgery, he was put on Reconcile, and his doses have been reduced already since we began, and I can't even tell you the difference it's made. He is not as skittish of new people and things (like Carhart jackets?) and he can be left out of the crate for a couple hours at a time now. :) We felt bad having to medicate him but our vet said he was one of the worst cases of separation anxiety in a long time, seeing as he was physically harming himself in his panic.
Nowadays Riddler is a whole different animal - he's not afraid of jackets or automatic sliding doors, he is very obediant and gets along fabulously with all of his new friends at
the dog park. He gets to play at Horsetooth reservoir on warmer days and does great with his canine roommate Sydney and the cat residents. He doesn't play much fetch but he'll steal the ball or stick or Frisbee for a round of keepaway with anyone who wants to chase him. Riddler gets complimented all the time on his good looks and his great behavior; it's so rewarding to work with him.
Again, we'd like to thank you guys for seeing all of Riddler's potential when he was "just another black dog" among so many others at your local shelter. He has brought so much joy and so many laughs to our lives!
