Happy Endings for Bandit (now named Barney)

Barney and DaveBarneyMay 2010. Today we're celebrating Barney's 6 month adoption day. Hooray for Barney! He's the best snuggler ever, & is SO gentle & sweet. We truly love our Barney. He gets along well with everyone, even his new bossy sister, Tulip. They spend all day stealing each others toys, then run along together glued at the hip.

Barney's turned into a perfect house dog... no more accidents, no more crating. He's just a perfectly good boy! We can't thank you enough for rescuing him from "the pound". He really makes us happy, & I think the feeling is mutual. He's so handsome with his hair grown back in on his head, & his new sleeker figure. Here are some photos of happy Barney.

I hope that all of your rescue families feel as lucky as we do!
Love from Barney (AKA Bandit), Tulip, Kathy, & Dave

November 2009. Bandit is officially Barney... a treasured member of the family! Thank you for all of your advice & support during my wobbly phone call back in September. Thanks to xanax, & his favorite toys & treats, Barney became glad to trot into his crate. We only used the xanax about 5 times! Now I'm ready to try weaning him to the laundry room AKA "plush doggie lounge".

Bandit and Bella

House training is almost 100%, although he instantly marked upon entering a friends house last week. Now I know not to unleash him until he's trained out of that habit. Luckily my friend adores Barney & was completely understanding. He sleeps so well in our room at night, & gives the most gentle greeting as soon as he knows we're awake. I love how soft & beautiful he is. He's such an easy sweet companion. He goes on lots of long walks with us into the National Forest around our house. we call him "Barney The Explorer". He stays with us, but follows his nose like crazy. He covers about 5 miles for every mile that we walk! When we get home he hits his doggie bed hard.

The hardest part of adopting Barney was that Bella gave me the cold shoulder for about a week. The next week she started to warm up to him, & then gradually forgave me.

The best part of adopting Barney was that Bella came to LOVE him! She loved his company on our hikes, & tried to keep up with him. When we'd put Barney on in the front yard she'd go out & lay next to him. Our unplayful old Bella even used to jump on him & invite him to play. Sadly we had to put Bella to sleep yesterday. We're heart broken, but Barney is a dear comfort. I know that she enjoyed his company so much these last few months.

I just want you to know how loved Barney is.

Thank you for the wonderful selfless work that you do. Sincerely,
Kathy Stine
