Before adoption, all pets are provided with:
spay or neuter
FIV/FELV testing for cats
BDAR also offers the opportunity for adopters to:
Bring the dog in for a wellness exam 30 days after adoption with an approved veterinarian
Receive 30 days of pet health insurance
Adoption campaigns and promoting the desirability of shelter pets is a high priority for BDAR’s outreach efforts. Preparing animals for adoption and effectively promoting them to keep them moving quickly through the foster program costs the organization in excess of $75,000.00 per year.
The success rates of the foster and adoption programs speak for themselves. Every year since 2008, BDAR’s adoption numbers have increased significantly. For the first time in 2014, more than 400 dogs were adopted in a calendar year. That reflected an increase in adoptions by more than 15% over 2013. Since its inception, the organization has placed more than 2500 dogs transferred from Wyoming’s shelters in adoptive homes.
